The MACS facelift

A Minimal Access Cranial Suspension lift (MACS lift) allows for the correction of sagging facial features through a shorter, less noticeable incision than a regular facelift. The scar will be situated in a crease just in front of the ear and down through a small part of the sideburn area.

The whole purpose of the MACS facelift technique is to create a younger but natural look with as few complications and little downtime as possible.  We strive to create a younger, natural look by changing the appearance of the face from a rectangular, older shape, to an oval, younger shape.  The MACS face lit is our technique of choice at the moment.

The MACS procedure takes approximately 90 minutes and is usually performed under a local anesthetic, although a general anesthetic is always available for patients that desire it.
Since we use glue instead of stitches to close the wounds, most patients fully recovery from this procedure after 5 to 7 days.

As with all surgical procedures, complications such as infection and bleeding are possible but extremely rare with this technique.  In fact, the chances of complications are much lower with this technique when compared to the traditional facelift technique.

Patients undergoing the MACS facelift procedure are left very natural, refreshed  appearance and are usually more than satisfied with their results.

Neck Lift

The neck may sag as a result of aging or weight loss, and is often affected before the face.  Loose neck muscles can lead to an appearance of bands on the neck or drastic drooping of the skin.  A neck lift is a surgical procedure that can smooth and tighten the skin on the neck and provide a more toned and youthful appearance.  The results of this procedure offer a drastic improvement to the appearance of the neck and subtle changes to overall appearance.  A neck lift may be performed alongside a facelift, or may be performed alone, after which your friends and family may not even realize that a surgical procedure was performed.

A neck lift procedure includes both a cervicoplasty to remove excess skin and a platysmaplasty to remove or alter muscles in the neck.  Liposuction can also be used to remove excess fat during a neck lift.  This takes two to three hours and may be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the preference of the patient.  Most procedures are performed within an outpatient basis.

Swelling and bruising may occur shortly after the procedure and last up to ten days.  Most people can return to work and other regular activities within two weeks after a neck lift procedure.

There are certain risks involved in a neck lift, as there is with any surgical procedure including problems with anesthesia or infection.  There is also a risk of facial nerve damage that may occur during surgery and can result in muscle paralysis.  Although these complications are rare, they emphasize the importance of choosing a skilled and experienced surgeon for your cosmetic procedures.

Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Blepharoplasty can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. Blepharoplasty can be combined with BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow's feet or dark circles under the eyes.

The procedure is usually performed in an office with local anesthesia and lasts 30 - 90 minutes depending on how much work is done. Incisions are made along the eyelids in inconspicuous places (in the creases of the upper lids, and just below the lashes on the lower lids). The surgeon removes excess tissue through these incisions and then stitches them closed with fine sutures. In the case that no skin needs to be removed, the surgeon will likely perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, where the incision is made inside the lower eyelid and there are no visible scars.

Stitches are removed after three or four days and most people return to work in ten. Contact lenses may not be worn for two weeks. The effects of blepharoplasty can last for a long time and are sometimes even permanent.

Forehead Lift (Browlift)

Browlifts can revitalize drooping or lined foreheads, helping you to look less angry, sad or tired. Using either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance. The procedure is often combined with other operations such as blepharoplasty and facelifts to improve the look of the eyes and other areas of the face.

Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)

Ear surgery for children or adults can set prominent ears back closer to the head and reduce the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for “lop ear," "cupped ear" and "shell ear,” large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with creases and wrinkles. The procedure lasts from 45-60 minutes and may be performed in a hospital, office-based facility or an outpatient surgery center under general or local anesthesia.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX® relaxes wrinkles and gives the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX® may also be useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and neck muscle spasms.
